Santa Barbara Airport Police conducts active shooter training with SBTactical.
The Santa Barbara Airport Police conducted active shooter training on Sunday with SBTactical utilizing our rental fleet. Twelve officers conducted the training and eight civilians volunteered as role players. They rented the irTactical systems from us for their training event and it could not have gone better. Sgt Steve Spurlock, the training officer for SBAP, said “it is difficult for a small department like ours to get the time to conduct this type of training. In the past we had to use Simunitions which meant hours of prep work and clean up that we just can’t afford. Being able to rent the irTactical systems was perfect because the training was much more realistic since there is no safety equipment, and you guys show up with the systems, gear us up, and leave when your done.” Sgt Spurlock had used SBTactical’s fleet last year at the UC Santa Barbara campus active shooter training event and remembered how effective it was. We received nothing but positive feedback from the officers. They may be a small department, but they are extremely professional and took the training seriously. We look forward to working with them again in the future!
